Senetas has won the Digital and Smart Technologies category at the 47th Governor of Victoria Export Awards.

The Governor of Victoria Export Awards are the state’s longest-running export honours, held every year since 1979 and administered by Global Victoria on behalf of the Victorian Government. They recognise businesses that have achieved sustained success in international markets, and the Digital and Smart Technologies category is awarded to Victorian companies building world-class technology and winning customers offshore.

The judging looked at export performance: encryption designed and manufactured in Melbourne, now protecting data for governments, defence organisations, critical infrastructure operators and enterprises in more than 60 countries, and distributed internationally in partnership with Thales. Senetas exports defence-grade cyber technologies to high-value international markets while keeping core capability, intellectual property and decision-making anchored in Australia.

Much of that international demand is now driven by the move to quantum-safe encryption. Because Senetas encryptors are crypto-agile, customers can adopt new algorithms through in-field upgrades as standards change, rather than replacing deployed hardware — a decisive consideration for government and defence buyers planning decades ahead.

“This award belongs to our team, our manufacturer, our distributor and our partners. Senetas was founded in Victoria and we still manufacture here, and we compete in more than 60 countries from that base. To be recognised alongside Ego Pharmaceuticals, Swinburne University and Bulla Dairy Foods — Victorian organisations that all punch above their weight globally — is something we are proud of.” — Andrew Wilson, Chief Executive Officer, Senetas

As a category winner, Senetas will now represent Victoria at the 64th Australian Export Awards, held in Canberra on 18 November, competing alongside leading exporters from every state and territory.

Senetas congratulates all 2026 finalists and category winners, and thanks Global Victoria, Austrade and the Governor of Victoria Export Awards for their continued support of Victorian exporters.
