The countdown to 2030 has begun.

Cybersecurity is entering a significant new investment cycle as both governments and private organisations prepare for the era of quantum computing.

To stay ahead of the curve, Australian agencies are now being encouraged to transition to Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) by 2030. This shift isn’t just about future tech—it’s about protecting the sensitive data of today from the “Store Now, Decrypt Later” risks of tomorrow.

As we move toward a quantum-resistant future, the window for strategic implementation is opening now.

“Encryption underpins trust in digital systems,” Andrew Wilson, Chief Executive Officer, Senetas said. “Once quantum capability reaches a certain threshold, today’s public-key encryption becomes vulnerable. The organisations that start transitioning early will be far better placed than those trying to respond under pressure.”
