Course description
Get in-depth administration training with IBM Tivoli Storage Manager 6.1 Extended Edition at a skill level that is beyond the IBM Tivoli Storage Manager 6.1 Implementation and Administration course (see courses TS610 and 8S610). Administrators will be able to control and tune their Tivoli Storage Manager environment and learn steps to take when troubleshooting. The Tivoli Storage Manager 6.1 database has been updated to DB2, and reporting has been enhanced. The hands-on labs in this course labs explore new database management methods and options, and introduce Tivoli Common Reporting. In addition, the exercises involve multiple servers to simulate an enterprise environment. Students will participate in group problem determine exercises, perform a variety of backup and restore processes, optimize data management, and tune the backup-archive client and the Tivoli Storage Manager 6.1 server for optimal performance.

- Recover a primary storage pool.
- Configure and use server-to-server virtual volumes.
- Configure and use backup sets, and online image backup.
- Configure and use multi-session backup and move node data.
- Enable and use file grouping and open file support.

- Basic understanding of network architecture including Wireless Area Network (WAN), Local Area Network and Storage Area Network.
