Course description
The course IBM Tivoli Configuration Manager 4.2: Software Package Preparation details the building of complex software packages, testing the software package, distributing of the software package, and confirming that the software package was properly installed.
This training is done in a classroom environment with hands-on laboratory opportunities to practice concepts by performing student exercises that reflect real-world scenarios.
During the course, students will build software packages, work with the disconnected commands and work with the new features of the Software Package Editor. Students attending this course should already know the basics of software package creation.

- Create nested software packages
- Use Activity Planner to build activity plans for deploying a series of software packages
- Create software packages that use native installation (Microsoft Setup, InstallShield, AIX installp, Solaris pkgadd & patchadd, Linux RPM)
- Create software packages that install operating system and application patches
- Set software package-level properties
- Customize AutoPack to create software packages
- Use the advanced features of the Software Package Editor
- Manage locked files during installation.
